Job DescriptionMSHS is the largest independent technical
distributor of the Woodward company in the US. GCS supplies
engineered control solutions and system components for Engines and
Industrial Turbine applications of all kinds, utilizing Woodward

Summary: MSHS requires an experienced mechanically trained
technician to be responsible for the repair and overhaul of the
precision engineered products that we support. You will be required
to strip down, clean and diagnose faults, repair and test units
returning them back to the OEM factory standards. Travel to
customer site to diagnose faults on the engine is part of this role
Duties & Responsibilities
- Repair of customer governors, actuators, motors and other
equipment in a timely manner and to the highest level of
quality.
- Internal and external customer technical support by phone or in
person
- Maintain and clean workspaces after use
- Assist in building and testing electrical cabinets for the GCS
engineered systems.
- Entering time to jobs making sure that a majority of the time
during the day is booked to jobs based on a customer purchase
order.
- Entered time and parts used on a job must be accurately
maintained
- Submitting timely service report upon completion of each field
job.
- Customer training on equipment
- Present yourself professionally whilst on site to always
provide a positive and confident experience for the customer
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge and skills on repair and calibration of the
following OEM mechanical equipment
- Woodward governors and actuators
- Regulators Europa governors
- Diesel Kiki governors
- Heinzman governors and actuators
- Good knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic principles including
auxiliary systems, components around the engine.
- Basic electrical knowledge to include how to read electrical
schematics and use multimeters to fault find issues
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including
Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook, photo editor.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved
in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings,
and models.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and safety
procedures.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and
weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to
problems.
- Reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling
obligations.
- Able to lead and respect co-workers; maintain teamwork; keep
all time communication in the team; follow instructions of
Supervisor. Support and report to Supervisor and other departments
as deemed necessary.
- Take on responsibilities and challenges and willingness to work
overtime as may be deemed necessary.
- Take the lead, charge, and offer opinions and direction in the
governor controls workshop area
- Able to read, write and communicate in the English language
Education and Experience Requirements
- Require a recognized mechanical certificate from a trade school
or military training institution or an Associate Degree from a
recognized institute in area of specialty and 5 - 8 years of
experience in the field or in a related area. Work Environment &
Physical Demands
- Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to stand for long periods and be comfortable with
kneeling, stooping and working in cramped and uncomfortable
positions is required.
- Should be prepared to twist and turn the body often and must be
open to working outdoors in various weather conditions. Fit for
Duty All field and shop employees will require a pre-employment
ENG1 Medical Examination (or equivalent). Shop service employees
will be required to take the ENG1 Medical Evaluation but will have
more flexibility for compliance based on MSHS accommodations of any
given medical restrictions. The ENG1 Medical assessment is a
standard examination can take anywhere between 30 and 45 minutes
and will include the following:
- Measurement of height and weight
- A standard eye test and color blindness test
- A hearing test
- Ear and throat evaluations
- Inspection of teeth and gums
- Questions about medical history, including drinking and smoking
habits
