Job Title: Sheet Metal EstimatorDepartment: EstimatingFLSA Status: ExemptReports to: Estimating DirectorSalary: Commensurate with experience + BenefitsJOB SUMMARY:The Sheet Metal Estimator is a critical position within WRN. Sheet Metal Estimator are responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, conducting itemized duct and equipment takeoffs in the preparation project estimating process. This individual will use 3D On-screen Estimating Software to create Itemized Takeoffs for pipe, valves & fittings, piping systems, air side ductwork for all. Individual is required to know everything about the project to ensure all materials, equipment an equipment accessory required for the project have been captured in the estimate. Sheet Metal Estimator is responsible for follow-up with vendors & subcontractors to ensure quotations and proposals for the project bids are received in timely manner for inclusion in the bid. Sheet Metal Estimator will perform and assist other Sr. Estimators and Chief Estimator in the preparation estimates for Hard Bids & Conceptual Pricing of projects. Sheet Metal Estimator will assist Jr. Estimator and Estimators by passing on knowledge, providing guidance, and answer questions the Jr. Estimator an Estimators may have. Sheet Metal Estimator will assist the Estimating Team in preparation and finalization of information by collecting and disseminating project bid information for awarded projects, to be used at estimating turnover meeting to the Project Management Operations Team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Review all project drawings and specifications necessary to understand the requirements of the project.Prepare Invitations to Bid for vendors and subcontractors as determined to be required as necessary for the project based on the review of project drawings and specifications.Prepare and provide the required Material Profiles for each air side duct system required in estimate based on the review in the specifications and bid documents, for the Project Bid Set-up FormMake necessary verbal contact with vendors and subcontractors to secure the necessary quotations and proposals from vendors and subcontractorsPrepares subcontractor bid packages for supervisor approval.Solicits and maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors.Ensure that we have the proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day.Experience and Knowledge of all Air Side Equipment, Ductwork and Duct Accessories.Some Experience and Knowledge with Piping for Mechanical and/or Plumbing Systems: Chilled Water, Condenser Water, Glycol, Steam, Steam Condensate, A/C Condensate, A/C Condensate Recovery, Fuel Oil, Natural & LP Gas, Fiberglass, Refrigeration Special Piping Systems, Mechanical Equipment AHU's, Chillers, Boilers, Heat Exchangers, Boilers, HVAC Pumps, Storage Tanks, Air Separators, Expansion Tanks, etc.;Perform 3D On-Screen Digital Take-offs on HVAC Piping, ductwork, ductwork accessories to gather information for the preparation of bid.Provide Detailed Quantity Take-Offs Surveys with Estimating Software Take-off and the production of material and labor Pivot Table Summaries and Equipment Quantity Surveys will be performed with Bluebeam Software, or other software as technology advances.Work with the Service and Sheet Metal Estimating Teams to Assemble Data for Estimates and Proposals.Prepare and Fill In all necessary required description of material and equipment with associated pricing, with corresponding Labor Units on the Excel Bid Worksheets on appropriate Tabs within the Bid Worksheet Develop RFI's and necessary clarifications and ensure adequate subcontractor coverage and shows interest.Transmits addenda and other bid information to subcontractors through Bid Tracer managed by the Estimating Admin.Ensures that subs are aware of and commit to the project schedule, addendums, and Front End, Documents provided by Design Team, Owners, Construction Managers, General Contractors.Organize Excel Bid Worksheets, quotations from vendors & subcontractors in both the electronic and Hard Copy Bid Folders by Trade specific information. Company Standard Color Coding of hard copy folders to be used, Chief Estimator Red, Mechanical Blue, Plumbing Yellow for Bid Projects and Green Labels for Conceptual Budget Projects. Send to Project Executive for review. Prepare Project Bid Proposal use company standard proposal form, project bid form, and other electronic bid forms required by construction manager and/or general contractor.Assist Project Executive and/or Estimating Team with the composition of proposals and scopes items of work details to be performed for that specific project.Build relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and customers.Visit job sites and satellite office when needed to get a better understanding of project scope and/or overall trade specific practices.Assist Project Executive and/or Estimating Team with the Delivery of Sealed Bids to Owner's & General Contractors when necessary. Willing to assist with other tasks that arise as needed.Review bid requirements thoroughly and asks follow-up questions if necessary to complete bid.Have a thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades for your assigned duties.Performs a comprehensive "bid day" analysis and scoping of specific assigned trades.Submit 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline Follows up with vendors and subcontractor about their related scope of work they will be providing and pricing.Upon Project Award turns over electronic bid documents, proposal, bid worksheets, quotations, proposals information to Project Management. This will be conveyed to the Project Management Team through NASHCLOUD. Project Electronic Information to be transmitted by the date provided by Project Management Team but in no longer than 5 working days of request.Schedule with Chief Estimator and Assigned Project Executive or Manager determine the date and time of Estimating Turnover Meeting. Estimating Turnover Meeting Invitations will be sent to Estimating Team,Project Management Team Exec, Project Manager, Project Superintendent, BIM Manager, Prefab Manager Prior to Estimating Turnover Meeting, if requested by Project Management Team review drawings with the Project Team and highlight areas of concern.Prior to Estimating Turnover Meeting, if requested by Project Management Team, Review Job Cost with Project Management Team referencing Subcontractors, Materials Vendors, an any Adjustments made to pricingJOB REQUIREMENTS:For consideration, candidates must have a minimum of ten years of estimating experience with itemized take-off, preparation of bid forms and close out of bids. A Bachelor's Degree in construction management is a plus, but not a sole requirement of this position.QUALIFICATIONS: On Screen Itemized Take OffExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Must know Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.Must be self-motivated and punctual.Bilingual a plus, but not requiredMust be able to manage multiple tasks.Excellent follow up skills both internally and externally.Must act in a professional manner in their performance and duties.Specific Knowledge of Mechanical / HVAC Systems (ductwork i.e.; sheet metal, fiberglass, grease duct, supply & exhaust fans, other fan sets, grilles, registers, linear diffusers, etc.;) (hydronic piping systems i.e.; chilled water supply & return, heating hot water supply & return, refrigeration piping, steam supply, steam condensate, Natural Gas, LP Gas, Fuel Oil Systems), must have general knowledge of (HVAC Equipment i.e.: Air Handling Units, Energy Recovery Units, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Fan Coil Units, VAV Boxes, CAV Boxes, Reheat Coils, OA Units, Boilers, Condensing Boilers, Heat Exchangers, Air Separators, Pump Systems, etc.; (must have general knowledge of BMS and Stand-A-Lone Control Systems, etc.;)Must be able to perform HARD BID and Conceptual Budget Estimate ProjectsComputer Savvy - must be able to run Autodesk ESTmep 3D Software or the ability to learn Software.
