Job Summary

ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: Geospatial Analysts create, analyze, and interpret spatial data to support U.S. military and policymaker interests. They apply knowledge of geographic information science and technology, statistics, spatial thinking, remote sensing, intelligence issues, and the social and physical sciences to characterize events, discover relationships and trends, and produce geospatial intelligence. These analysts also conduct multi-INT research, conduct descriptive and predictive analyses, populate and exploit intelligence databases, and produce and disseminate intelligence products.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Geospatial analysts create, analyze, and interpret spatial data to support U.S. military and policymaker interests. They apply knowledge of geographic information science and technology, statistics, spatial thinking, remote sensing, intelligence issues, discover trends, and produce finished intelligence. In this role, analysts conduct research that involves multiple intelligence disciplines; utilization of structured data; populate and exploit intelligence databases; and produce written, visual, or oral intelligence products. The Analysis Directorate serves the information needs of the intelligence, defense, and foreign policy communities and provides leadership on substantive issues, operations, tradecraft development, and analytical tools and techniques to its partners and GEOINT customers worldwide. NGA analysts produce high quality formal intelligence products, build and maintain professional relationships with other NGA offices and external partners, and provide senior-level briefings as required. Applicants must have a solid foundation in analysis and reporting with a working knowledge of GIS and/or international issues. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to apply new methods and technologies to solve intelligence problems. Position is located at USSOUTHCOM, Doral, FL.

Mandatory Qualifications

MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). * Demonstrated experience with research and analysis using geospatial information systems (GIS).
* Demonstrated experience using critical thinking skills and/or data analytics to address matters of national concern.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and present briefings to meet the need of various audiences.
* Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with others.
* Demonstrated technical skills, such as scripting and coding, programming, data mining and analytics, data visualization, statistical analysis, algorithm development, data science, or computational thinking.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Geography, Physical Science, Data Analytics, Cartography, Statistics, or a related field -OR- a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a certificate in GIS from an accredited university. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in GIS, spatial analysis, or any area listed in option A, plus experience working in an Intelligence discipline requiring creating, analyzing, and interpreting spatial data, or related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience working in an Intelligence discipline requiring creating, analyzing, and interpreting spatial data, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Distinguish principal colors and shades/hues of principal colors; Near visual acuity of 20/20 or better with or without corrective lenses; Stereopsis ability; Far visual acuity of 20/30 or better binocular with or without corrective lenses

Highly Desired Qualifications

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired:

* Demonstrated experience with geospatial analysis or completion of GIS certification or program.

Additional Job Requirements

You must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information. In addition, you are subject to a Counterintelligence Polygraph examination in order to maintain access to Top Secret information. All employees are subject to a periodic examination on a random basis in order to determine continued eligibility. Refusal to take the examination may result in denial of access to Top Secret information, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs.

Employees with SCI access and who are under NGA cognizance are required to submit a Security Financial Disclosure Report, SF-714, on an annual basis in order to determine continued eligibility. Failure to comply may negatively impact continued access to Top Secret information, Information Systems, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

PROMOTION OPPORTUNITY: Promotion opportunities allow applicants at all band levels to be considered. Qualifications for NGA positions do not include specific time-in-band requirements. NGA will emphasize quality of experience, rather than duration, and assess how the quality of the experience demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance in the NGA occupational structure.

Band 03 $68,182 - $126,336

APPLICANT EVALUATION PROCESS: Applicants will be evaluated for this job opportunity in three stages:

* All applicants will be evaluated using the Mandatory Qualification Criteria,
* Qualified applicants will then be evaluated by an expert or panel of experts using a combination of qualification criteria to determine the best-qualified candidates,
* Best-qualified applicants may then be further evaluated through an interview process.

NGA utilizes all processes and procedures of the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Non-executive NGA employees are assigned to five distinct pay bands based on the type and scope of work performed. The employee's base salary is established within their assigned pay band based on their unique qualifications. A performance pay process is conducted each year to determine a potential base pay salary increase and/or bonus.
