POSITION SUMMARY The Stormwater Division at the Public Works
Department seeks a Stormwater Operations Supervisor.This NEW
position supervises, directs, coordinates, schedules, and plans the
installation, maintenance, and r epairs of the Public Works
stormwater drainage and conveyance infrastructure network. The City

- Plans, directs and supervises the work of assigned staff;
delegates and reviews work assignments; conducts performance
evaluations
- Oversees administration, coordination and supervision,
planning, maintenance and management of Public Works stormwater
facilities, stormwater infrastructure and City rights of way
including the effective deployment of resources
- Provides strategic planning for and the assessment of the
stormwater operations network infrastructure and Public Works
Facilities
- Reviews, evaluates, and provides comments for technical
specifications as well as engineering and construction
drawings
- Advises staff on technical issues and makes decisions on
exceptional situations to manage and implement appropriate services
and assistance
- Effectively supervises and administers program to include
budget preparation and monitoring expenditures, staff development
and training, succession planning, performance management, employee
relations, prioritizing and assigning work related activities
- Prepares, administers, and maintains multiple operational
budgets; ensures correctness of charges and allocations; monitors
and approves expenditures; forecasts funds needed for staffing,
equipment, and materials
- Writes specifications and requisitions; and inspects materials
and equipment necessary to the operation of the system
- Maintains and monitors inventory of equipment, parts, tools,
and supplies
- Makes recommendations and gives technical assistance to the
Division Manager, other City departments, and outside consultants
on technical problems concerning the construction of new or the
modification of the existing system
- Makes recommendations regarding operational policies,
expenditures, plans, and other administrative matters
- Knowledge and skills with using computers, IPad, digital
handheld tools and asset management systems
- Knowledge of Federal, State and County regulations for Erosion
& Sedimentation Control and Stormwater compliance including FAC and
CFR
- Makes recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, and
discipline
- Works as a liaison with other City Departments, outside
agencies, and neighbors to navigate citizen inquiries and
complaints
- Prepares standard operating procedures.
- Prepares letters, memos, and other correspondence.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations and standard
operating procedures
- Performs related work as required JOB REQUIREMENTS & WORK
ENVIRONMENT Associate's degree in Engineering, Business or Public
AdministrationAt least five (5) years of experience in construction
and maintenance of water distribution and/or wastewater collection
systems servicing a population of 100,000+, including two (2) years
of experience working in a supervisory capacity. Additional
qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited
college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a
year-for-year basis for one year of the required experience or
education.Nine (9) years or more of progressively responsible
experience in construction and maintenance of stormwater
pressurized and non-pressurized drainage systems servicing a
population of +100,000 and/or the following professional
accreditations/ certifications: National Incident Management System
(NIMS) Incident Command Systems Certifications, Flagger and/or
Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control Certifications (MOT),
Florida Water and Pollution Control Association (FWPCOA) Stormwater
C, Florida Stormwater Association Level 2 and Florida Erosion and
Sedimentation Control Inspector is preferred. Must be able to
obtain certifications listed above within one year of employment
Special Requirements: Essential Employees may be required to work
during and following a declared emergency resulting from either a
natural disaster and/ or other emergency. The employee's Department

examination to qualify. All successful applicants will be required
to pass a medical examination, including drug screening, prior to
appointment.An eligible veteran who enters an open-competitive
examination shall receive preference points added to the total
passing score earned in the examination as provided for in the
Florida Statutes. To obtain veteran's preference, candidates MUST
submit a copy of separation papers and the City of Fort
Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form ( J-204) . The City of
