Job Description:

*Position Summary: *

The Marine Painter/ Varnish Specialist is a land-based position that is responsible for applying paint coatings on variety of marine vessels utilizing specialized equipment, including spray equipment or by hand. This position is responsible for identifying and diagnosing any issues having to do with the painting of the yachts during commissioning as well as during the warranty period, ensuring the repairs are successfully completed. The candidate is required to adhere to safety guidelines, applicable laws, and regulations. The ideal candidate should possess a pleasant demeanor and build a positive client relationship.

*Duties and Responsibilities - Essential Functions*

- Assess all projects and determine the scope of repairs needed for a proper and cost-effective finish

- Prepping, grinding, faring, sanding, bagging, and protecting areas to always acquire a professional finish

- Proper and Safe removal, storage and reinstallation of hardware, panels etc. that may have been removed in the preparation process

- Be able to spray primer, metallic paint and varnish to surfaces resulting in very little or no defects

- Proper storage and disposal of Hazardous Materials (i.e., Solvents, Paint & Paint related waste)

- Responsible for ensuring completion of work within schedule provided

- Keep accurate records of your duties and work performed, including the vessel and hull number for work orders, timecards etc.

- Assist with other Yard and Vessel maintenance operations as needed

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other company personnel and positive client interactions

- Maintain company equipment to ensure good working order; report any issues to the appropriate manager

- Follow safety rules, applicable laws, and regulations

- Must be able to wear a respirator and other proper protective gear as needed

- Follow company policies and procedures

- Answers inquiries and seeks input when uncertain of tasks

- Maintain a satisfactory attendance record, including availability for potential overtime

- Must be available weekends and holidays occasionally if needed

- Performs other duties as assigned

*Job Specifications*

*Education*

* High school/GED required
* Technical or vocational school a plus

*Experience*

- 3-5 years' experience in auto and/or marine spray painting and maintenance

- 3-5 years of related experience in the marine/yachting industry a plus

*Knowledge, Skills & Abilities*

- Perform the job safely wearing all proper and safety gear, keep area clean, and report any incidents immediately

* Must follow safety rules, applicable laws, and regulations

- Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully

- Able to manage difficult customer situations, responds promptly to customer needs, solicits customer feedback to improve service, responds to requests for service and assistance and meets commitments

- Prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently

- Able to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback to improve performance

- Can meet productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner

- Able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events

- Can consistently be at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance

- Fluent communicator in English. A second language is a plus

- Strong understanding of customer service with a pleasant demeanor

- Valid driver's license required

*Work Environment*

* Work outdoors at boat docks, marinas, and floating barges
* Ability to get into awkward positions to reach cramped and/or small workspaces
* Sometimes must work in very bright or very dim lighting
* May work physically near others

*Physical Abilities*

* Climb shipboard ladders and navigate narrow passageways and confined spaces
* Ability to lift heavy objects weighing 50 pounds or more
* Work at heights up to 50 feet above the deck using proper safety equipment
* Ability to get into awkward positions to reach cramped and/or small workspaces

Pay: From $28.00 per hour
