Job Description Marcum LLP has an in-house position open for a hands-on AWS Cloud Engineer with significant AWS engineering, design and architecture experience and the expertise to provide insights and technical recommendations for the continuing growth and improvement to our current AWS environment. The AWS Cloud Engineer will be able to assess the current AWS environment and make recommendations as it grows related to: Security/permissions, networking, storage, uptime/down time, server-less, and containerized environments and cost effectiveness. They will also work very closely with the development team on configuration changes and aid in the development of level one team members to expand their knowledge base and impact of the operating environment. They will serve as level 2 support for incidents and creating standard operating procedures for level 1 support teams. Additional experience and willingness to assist in support of Linux/Windows OS, architecture and building of services and conducting patching, upgrades, capacity planning, backup strategies, and integration planning and execution is a plus. This includes maintenance, enhancements, upgrades and tuning across multiple functional environments. Qualification/Job Requirements 5 years of experience engineering and deploying AWS based environments. Developing and maintaining applications built on Amazon VPC, EC2, AWS Lambda, Amazon EFS/EBS/S3, ELB, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Cloud Formation, Cloudwatch, Cloudtrail, SNS, and AWS databases such as RDS and Redshift. Experience with AWS environment design, and architecture, including assessing costs and security. Experience with Azure is a plus. 5 years of hands on experience with Windows Server, Linux, Virtual Environments and Containers. Experience working with software development teams and CI/CD familiarity. Excellent project management, verbal and written communication skills, and customer service skills. Have the ability to: Perform large scale design and implementation of cloud infrastructure projects, technical processes and procedures as they relate to cloud engineering Proactively identify opportunities for improvement of cloud technologies Document cloud architecture and related processes using Microsoft Visio Work with minimal supervision and take ownership of problems and/or issues and ensures timely resolution Act as escalation point and mentor for junior level staff, providing direction and guidance when necessary Be part of IT Governance and Change Management processes Participate in 24x7 network support rotation and handle escalations Preferred Requirements AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional (formal AWS training) Additional vendor technical certifications a plus (Microsoft, Linux, Citrix, VMware, etc.) BS in related technology field, or equivalent Technical Requirements Strong hands-on experience in architecture, development and ongoing management of AWS cloud environment. Knowledge in development languages such as Node.js, Python, Ruby etc. as it relates to serverless & scripting Container, virtualization and Linux/Windows operating systems experience. Ability to work collaboratively and influence the project team to achieve the goals Ability to manage time and pressures to work on multiple initiatives at the simultaneously Ability to work with the team to put together estimations, presentations, risks, and solutions Ability to work well in a matrix organization with peers and consultants Team player who can mentor and guide team members and strategic partners on strategic and tactical designs Essential Job Functions Participate in planning design, technical review and implementation of cloud infrastructure Identify potential problem areas and develop comprehensive solutions Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations of cloud infrastructure; duties include the monitoring of utilization and performance along with detection and correction of operational problems Establish and maintain technical procedures, configuration standards and troubleshooting methodologies Work with the Management to continually reassess current practices, identify deficiencies and\or areas that can be improved Generate documentation as requested pertaining to a variety of areas inclusive of though not limited to new and existing cloud implementations, DR procedures, Visio's and KB guides Participate in project work in varying capacities; this is inclusive of though not limited to acting in the capacity of project lead, being able to be tasked to carry out and execute high level\impact projects and acting with minimal supervision when needed. Maintain and track system and application changes through change management approval process. Maintain security controls and administering standards, controls, procedures and documentation (SOX, PII & PCI). Continually audit and monitor systems for deficiencies and perform necessary maintenance as required.
