Requisition No:325143Agency: Justice Administrative CommissionWorking Title: STATE ATTORNEYS OFFICE, 17TH CIRCUIT-SPECIAL VICTIM ADVOCATE- 21007220Position Number:21007220Salary: $40,000.00Posting Closing Date: 04/30/2021State Attorneys Office, 17th Judicial Circuit of FloridaPosition Opening - Special Victim AdvocateF/T PositionEducation: Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related fieldExperience: At least 1 year of direct service to crime victimsPosition DescriptionProvide crisis intervention, supportive counseling and resource/referral services to victims of violent crimes as well as their families and/or their survivors. Necessary SkillsPossess a nonjudgmental attitudePossess the ability to establish empathetic relationships with crime victimsHave the ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writingHave the ability to access community resources and advocate effectively for clientsDuties Provide crisis and supportive counseling to child and adult victims of abuse, sexual assault/battery, juvenile perpetrated crimes, as well as to homicide survivors Accompany victims to pre-filing interviews, discovery depositions, and court appearances as necessary Assist victims to understand the criminal justice process Make referrals to appropriate agencies and assist victims/survivors in applying for Crime Victim Compensation, Act as a liaison between victims and prosecutors and inform prosecutors of any unusual circumstances victims are experiencing Assist victims in creating viable safety plans Intervene on behalf of victims or their family members who are having difficulty accessing community services Maintain current and concise documentation of services provided Maintain current knowledge of community resources for adults, children and families Maintain current knowledge of SAO policies and procedures Maintain current knowledge of research/information related to sexual assault, child abuse, elderly abuse, juvenile perpetrated crimes, and homicide survivors Provide task or clinical supervision to volunteer/student interns working with victims of violent crimeTo ApplyPlease visit to complete and submit the on-line Support Staff employment application directly to our office.Please do NOT apply via People First.
