Salary Range $38,000 - $40,000
Educator will support OIC's Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program
(TPP), which includes evidence-based pregnancy prevention
curriculums: Reducing the Risk (RTR); Making Proud Choices
In-Out-of Home Care (MPC) and Love Notes paired with positive youth
development and trauma informed educational approaches serving
at-risk youth ages 10 to 19. The Educator is responsible for
delivering TPP program instruction with fidelity, collecting
performance measurement data and implementing positive youth
development activities. Support community saturation through
community engagement and outreach in multiple settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
--- Effectively deliver evidence-based curricula for program
participants, reinforcing age-appropriate language and medically
accurate instructional strategies.
--- Assist the Program Coordinator and Lead Educators in
identifying and securing middle and high schools, alternative
schools, and community-based sites to host TPP educational
programming for project youth.
--- Exhibit professionalism, enthusiasm, and a collaborative nature
to ensure success in the role.
--- Coordinate strengths-based youth development activities, which
include the following: skits and role plays, role model
presentations, and referrals to community resources.
--- Employ trauma-informed educational practices.
--- Ensure that program activities remain inclusive, promote
cultural and LGBTQ sensitivity and enforce anti-harassment
--- Build and maintain strong rapport and relationships with
partners, service population, and peers.
--- Be willing to work limited nights and weekends as needed in
order to reach families and goals
--- Enter enrollment forms, classroom attendance and fidelity
monitoring logs into program database on a daily/weekly basis.
--- Assist in coordinating special events, such as the Teen
Pregnancy Prevention Community Mobilization Event for youth and
community stakeholders and the Youth Leadership Council meetings
--- Assist team in coordinating educational support meetings for
parents of project youth, which include encouraging parental
involvement, facilitating relevant topics of interest (STIs,
determinants of teen pregnancy, etc.), securing guest speakers, and
providing resources and referrals as needed.
--- Assist Lead Educator in coordinating special events and
positive youth development activities, which include the following:
skits and role plays, role model presentations, and end-of-program
--- Assist Youth Leadership Coordinator and Lead Educator with the
Youth Leadership Council.
--- Attend community events as recommended by program
--- Routinely review the most current CDC, NIH and state and local
vital stats to ensure program materials adhere to medical accuracy
and report any findings to the Programs Manager.
--- Conduct research and develop/update program materials for
ongoing improvement strategies.
--- Prepare monthly reports, develop and maintain project
--- Attend professional development trainings and internal and
community meetings deemed necessary by the Division Director,
Senior Manager of Prevention Programs, Program Coordinator or lead
educators. Attend monthly program team meetings.
--- Follow all requirements and guidelines of the program funder
under the guidance of supervisor.
--- Share program and community resources with other team members
--- Submit monthly statistics to Lead Educator in a timely manner
--- Complete Exit Surveys and Site Implementation Issue forms in
accordance to policy.
--- Attend scheduled meetings deemed necessary by the Program
--- Provide support for program sustainability and resource
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
--- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Education, Training, Psychology or
--- Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in education,
counseling and/or providing training, mentoring, support to at-risk
--- Because of the nature of our work with youth, all applicants
must be able to pass a Level II Background Screening as required by
the Broward County School District.
--- Competency working with adolescents. Strong presentation and
classroom management skills with a proven ability to engage and
retain program participants.
--- Ability to facilitate programs and meetings both in person and
virtually using online platforms
--- Ability to work both in person and remotely while staying
organized, punctual, and accountable
--- Ability to build and maintain professional working
relationships with other team members, school personnel,
community/service providers. Knowledge of adolescent pregnancy
determinants and youth development principles.
--- Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic
and social groups.
--- Bilingual skills (English, Spanish, French, Creole) are a
--- Strong organizational and analytical skills. Must be computer
literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and
Prezi. Qualifications may be proven through exam. Strong oral and
written communication skills.
--- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work independently and as
a team member. Ability to manage time efficiently and meet
deadlines. A team orientated, creative and resourceful individual
who is a strategic thinker, problem solver with strong
decision-making abilities. Ability to work under pressure, handle
multiple task and work in a fast-paced environment.
--- Be willing to take on additional support tasks/roles to ensure
accountability and organization for the team as a whole.
--- Performing the duties of this position requires the ability to
walk, sit, stand, reach, talk, hear and lift presentation
materials, including equipment. This position will require
independent travel between local schools and other venues. Must
maintain valid Driver's License and insurance coverage on personal
vehicle at all times during employment.
