Microsoft Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) team has an
immediate opening for a highly motivated, experienced attorney to
join our Technology & Research (T) legal team in Redmond,
Washington.The T legal team provides front-line, world-wide legal
support for Microsoft's T group and the Office of the Chief
Technical Officer (OCTO). T and OCTO are the engines of innovation
for Microsoft. They are responsible for developing the company's
overall technical strategy and driving forward-looking research and
incubation efforts spanning a wide variety consumer and enterprise
technology areas.This position will primarily support the new
business incubation efforts of T/OCTO. These efforts are focused on
developing breakthrough technologies and business models that will
propel the next generation of Microsoft products and
services.Remote locations will be
considered.**Responsibilities**Primary responsibilities include:+
Providing creative and proactive counseling on a broad range of
complex legal, business and policy issues to support teams as they
explore new technology areas and business models and prepare them
to go to market.+ Drafting and negotiating legal agreements in
cooperation with internal business clients and outside counsel,
including in-bound and outbound IP licenses, commercial agreements,
and co-development and collaboration agreements.+ Managing a team
of dedicated outside counsel to scale support as necessary based on
the numbers and maturity level of in-flight incubation projects.+
Coordinating with team members, CELA colleagues and outside counsel
on various legal and regulatory questions on important issues faced
by early-stage technologies and businesses, including in the areas
of privacy, security, antitrust, litigation, and government
affairs.+ Driving process improvements to improve the efficiency
and scalability of our incubation legal
support.**Qualifications**Required/Minimum Qualifications+ Juris
Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International Degree OR Completion
of a Legal Apprenticeship.+ Active license to practice law in a
jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in
relevant jurisdiction.+ 7+ years experience as a practicing
attorney OR equivalent practice of law.Additional or Preferred
Qualifications+ 5+ years experience as an attorney in product
development, software licenses and other commercial agreements
involving the acquisition and use of IP and technology.+ In-house
counsel experience+ The role requires the successful candidate to
work efficiently, prioritize workflow, and collaborate well to
manage complex projects that cut across organizational boundaries.
Familiarity with product development, software licenses and other
commercial agreements involving the acquisition and use of IP and
technology is required. Familiarity with Microsoft internal
policies and processes and/or experience advising technology
startups is a strong plus.\#CELAThe salary for this role in the
state of Colorado is between $161,400 and $242,600.At Microsoft,
certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual
bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual
performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity
to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending
on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.Benefits/perks
