Med/Surg RN Residency Program, FT 7:00am-7:00pm (51888) BHMCBroward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale has been a respected leader in healthcare since its founding in 1938. As Broward Health's flagship hospital, Broward Health Medical Center offers 716 beds and is home to virtually every medical specialty, including cardiac care, maternity, neonatology, pediatrics and comprehensive stroke care. Additional services include cancer care, kidney and lung transplant, orthopedics, palliative care, robotics, sickle cell, surgical weight loss, a Level I trauma center and an on-site fitness center.

The Nurse Residency Program at Broward Health provides the novice nurse with the knowledge base, skill set, and structured support needed to transition from being a student to a competent and confident registered nurse in clinical nursing practice. The residency program supplements the traditional hospital and unit orientations. One of the primary goals of the program is to improve the new graduate nurse's ability to critically think and develop the ability to manage outcomes data to promote patient safety and deliver quality care at the bedside.

The focus of the program content is on development of residents' leadership skills, clinical competence, application of outcomes data to patient care improvements and professional development. The yearlong, evidence-based program bridges the gap between nursing education and "real-life" professional nursing practice. The program curriculum consists of the following:

* Nurse resident orientation / Launch Day
* Simulation experiences at the Virtual Hospital
* Clinical lectures
* Debrief discussions
* Leadership development
* Professional growth seminars
* Career coaching

Nurse residents are paired with a mentor throughout the Nurse Residency Program. The program's effectiveness is regularly measured through participant feedback obtained from the HealthStream Nurse Residency Pathway Surveys.

Completion of a nursing program from an accredited school of Nursing (ASN or BSN).

Current State of Florida Registered Nurse license required.
