Informatics Analyst - RemoteDocumentation Strategies, Inc. ('Docstrats'A) is searching for an Informatics Analyst for a 12 month contract role with one of our clients.SUMMARYThe Analyst will assist in the development, implementation and dissemination of new and existing analyses and reporting projects in the context of utilization, cost, quality and satisfaction. Working on the Informatics team, this role will partner with a variety of departments including Leadership across Health Management, Quality, Care Management, Informatics, Networks, etc. Using SQL database management tools and statistical methodologies, the Analyst will provide insights using various methods to help measure and evaluate current and future health plan initiatives. After measurement and evaluation have been completed, the Analyst will present observations and findings back to relevant stakeholders. Other specific duties include: using quality performance based data to perform modeling and analysis of costs, utilization, and outcomes; and collaborate with other departments to advance business objectives and research studies.POSITION QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Education:Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree strongly preferred with either a quantitative (i.e. actuarial, statistics, economics, engineering, computer, science, applied math, etc.) or a healthcare major (i.e. health administration, public health, medicine, etc.).Minimum Experience:2 to 5 years of experience working with healthcare data.Minimum 2 years of experience developing database driven projects using SQL.Required Skills:Knowledge of health plan-specific datasets (i.e. claims, eligibility, etc.) reporting /analytic uses (i.e. cost and utilization reporting, disease management, etc.) and terminology (i.e. PMPM, and per 1000 measures, diagnosis/procedure codes, episode groupers, risk adjustment, etc.) strongly preferred.Demonstrated ability to identify the necessary data, prepare extracts, and analyze data to provide solutions requiredSQL, R, Microsoft Excel/Access (advanced) or other programming language required; foundational understanding of relational database concepts and/or multi-dimensional models.Ability to handle and manipulate large complex healthcare related datasetsDemonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers, spreadsheet applications, SQL database tools.Experience with the claims processing systemsSuperior problem solving, analytic skills and an ability to analyze large volumes of data and identify trends and anomalies.Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word and proficient in other MS Office tools such as PowerPoint.Ability to work independently, as well as work effectively as a member of a team.Professionally skilled in personal presentation, verbal, and written communication.Ability to prioritize multiple assignments with attention to details and deadlines in a high volume environment.Proven ability to build relationships with business and technical partners to improve customer service and continuously improve project deliveryMust be self-motivated, proactive and able to work well under pressureCompetenciesEssential:Analytical Thinking - Breaks a complex project down into tasks and sub-tasks.
