*Job ID:* 103161 Responsibilities: Works in conjunction with unit managers and education staff for the planning and implementation of orientation for new hires. Assists education staff in assigning unit preceptors. May assist in interview process for new staff. Completes probationary performance evaluations for new hires. Participates in annual evaluations with unit managers. Provides one-on-one education and appropriate coaching and feedback as indicated by skill assessments of for all staff (individual and aggregate) in the perioperative areas. Works collaboratively with director, clinical managers, team coordinators, physicians and anesthesiologists to set educational goals for the perioperative area. Develops an annual education plan for each clinical area. Collaborates with nursing management to identify clinical activities which facilitate professional growth of nursing staff. Services as a resource person for identified perioperative projects. Participates in and leads work teams related to process improvement or problem resolution. Acts as an advocate for the staff training component of new strategic initiatives pertinent to clinical area. Assists with coordination of students from designated colleges/universities. Actively assists management team with ensuring staff compliance with regulatory requirements. This may include, but is not limited to, training and recertification for CPR, ACLS, annual education on fire safety/diversity/code management/HIPPAA and coordination of TB testing. Serves as a resource in the clinical area. Performs patient care in area of clinical expertise in order to demonstrate clinical competence and be available to teach others. Maintains professional growth and development through an ongoing process of formal and informal education and clinical nursing study. Assists with providing education of health care consumer and other health care team members. Applies knowledge/research findings as reported in the professional literature to clinical practice. Other duties as assigned. Education: Certificate of completion of Surgical Technologist program, Associate's Degree preferred. Knowledge of adult learning, motivational and change theories, group process skills, and teaching strategies. Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with automated clinical systems, and Microsoft applications. Certifications: American Heart Association - Basic Life Support (BLS) (Health Care Provider.) Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the Associate of Surgical Technologists required. Complexity of Work: Requires analytical thinking, time management, multitasking and strong communications skills. Demonstrated computer skills (EPIC, Microsoft). Work Experience: Must have three to five years current perioperative experience; preferable in large health care setting. Demonstrated specialty experience. Teaching experience preferred. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform duties while standing, sitting, stooping and reaching for prolonged periods of time; ability to lift instrumentation and linen packs weighing up to 25 pounds on a continual basis; and ability to push, pull and navigate supply carts weighing up to 200 pounds. Ability to tolerate exposure to environments of bacterial and viral contamination and possible exposure to sterilization gases. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
