Overview:Plan, direct, or coordinate the activities of buyers, purchasing agents, and related workers involved in purchasing materials, products, and services. The Purchasing Manager reports directly to the VP Procurement.Job Category: Salary ExemptDepartment: ProcurementReports To: VP ProcurementHours: 8:00am - 5:00pm, additional hours as needed.Responsibilities: Meeting departmental (5) KPI's and goals Prepare long range forecasting to determine the overall needs. Confers with VP Procurement to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions. Ensures management of Purchase Orders, Ordering parameters and Inventory levels. Provide inputs and leadership for issues affecting the department. Lead a team of Purchasing Agents, providing direction, support, training and development. Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, MRP / Procurement concepts, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Negotiation with suppliers on new contracts, price increases and cost savings opportunities. Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying of direct, non-product and drop ship materials. Work to secure alternate suppliers of materials and equipment as needed. Provide planning and guidance for blanket orders and contracts to optimize flexibility and inventory impact. Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures. Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials. Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability. Resolve supplier grievances, and claims against suppliers. Control purchasing department budgets. Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids. Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. Responsible for management reporting supporting Receipts forecasting, Shortages and Cost. Identifies staffing needs, interviews, hires and trains staff and maintains a steady stream of qualified candidates. Guiding, Directing, and Motivating staff - Providing guidance, training and direction, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance on a frequent basis. Succession Planning - Identify top performers and formalize specific development plans by empowering, coaching and motivating them. Demonstrate Enthusiasm - Enthusiastic Managers are committed to their goals and express this commitment through optimism. Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships - Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time. Lead by example, evaluating departmental workload requirements and staying late when needed. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Working Conditions: Majority will be an inside office environment.Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand or sit, and move about the facility.Education and Formal Training: Education needed for entry: Bachelor's degree Work experience need: At least 5 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations or other related field Certifications: APICS Member with CPIM Certification a plusExperience: 2+ years of supervisory experience 2+ years of MRP system experience, preferably SAP Analysis skills including database and/or Excel proficiencyMaterials and Equipment Used: MS Office, Database & Query Software, ERP Software, Procurement Software - SAP system.Candidates will be required to complete a background check and drug screen before beginning work.Sonny's is an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to creating an inclusive work environment for everyone.
