Our ClientAltman / Glenewinkel Construction Company (AGC) is an in-house captive construction company of The Altman Companies (ADC). The Altman Companies is a 54-year-old multifamily development, construction, and management company building over 28,000 units across the United States. AGC was formed in 2014 and, since that time, has averaged 2 to 3 project starts per year. In 2018, BBX Capital, a public company, purchased 50% of Joel Altman's ownership of The Altman Companies and put a 5-year plan in place to increase the number of starts to between 10 to 12 per year. BBX will own 90% of the platform in 2023. This will effectively grow the company by approximately 300% by 2025. Additionally, through a unique team structure, the organization is building a culture and operating model where the construction teams are involved in the projects from day one with the development arm of the organization. They take the lead from design development drawings through final construction documents to minimize change orders due to constructability issues, including errors and omissions by the design teams.LocationFort Lauderdale, FLPosition Summary / Essential Job Functions Our client is seeking a motivated individual to serve as Altman / Glenewinkel Construction Company's next President. This individual will lead the company in providing quality and profitable projects to both ADC and AGC. They will establish short- and long-term goals, preside over construction personnel, put in place policies and procedures to ensure a successful scaling of the company, manage budgets and schedules, warrant the proper allocation of resources, and ensure that all departments meet their goals. The next President will be a leader who bridges the gap between the stereotypical traits in the development and construction personnel, encouraging them to work as one unit with the goal of common success.Responsibilities --- Oversee and ensure adherence to project estimates, schedules, and delivery milestones --- Implement systems and processes and policies and procedures to continuously improve efficiency and quality of overall project delivery --- Routinely walk through projects, evaluate quality and progress, and engage with employees to promote morale while enforcing the company's vision and goals --- Meet with ownership and executive staff to assess the direction of the company, develop short- and long-term goals, plans, and strategies, and ensure the company's compliance with the stated mission --- Oversee the complete operation of the company and ensure that all goals are met based on the company's strategic plans --- Maintain awareness and knowledge of the company's finances through understanding and review of company financial statements, as well as understanding cash flow to determine future needs based on workload and timing and advise on forecasting --- Manage company field staff and overhead, increasing and decreasing as needed, to maintain schedules and profitabilityQualifications --- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or another related field --- At least 15 years of work experience in development, construction, or real estate related fields with a strong project and construction management background --- Minimum of 5 years of multifamily related experience --- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an senior leadership role --- Experience working with Florida area architects, consultants, and contractors is a plus --- Experience as construction leader in a captive G.C. within a multifamily development is also a plus. --- Oral and written communication skills, demonstrated interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact both internally and externally with various stakeholders --- Ability to travel out of town for company operations (could require several days at a time)
