MUST HAVE A STRONG CODING BACKGROUND Inpatient and Outpatient

What you will need:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Information Management with RHIA registration preferred or Associate of Science Degree in Health Information Technology with RHIT registration required. Five years total hospital experience required with RHIT. Minimum of two years previous management required. Experience in CPT-4 coding, OCE-NCCI edits required.Drivers License required.

Qualifications




What you will be responsible for:




Responsible for the management of coding functions, which includes first level validations of NCCI and OCE edits, to assure efficiency of workflow processes in order to meet organizational goals.


Supervises inpatient and outpatient coding, providing backup assistance when necessary.


Responsible for coordinating outside coding resources for each facility.


Coordinates with Coding Quality & Education Coordinator on appeals of all coding changes made by the PRO, RAC, or fiscal intermediary, which conflict with standard coding practices and-or hospital coding policies.


Responsible for development of coding guidelines, including policy and procedures for the department for coding processes as part of the compliance program.


Coordinates educational sessions and resource materials necessary for Coders to remain abreast of coding guidelines and new technology.


Acts as liaison between PFS and ancillary departments regarding issues resulting in delay of coding processes as related to the Accounts Not Selected for Billing processes, including review and analysis of statistical reports


Acts as liaison with ED nurse auditors regarding processing of ER codes for completion of coding processes.


Works with Coding Quality & Education Coordinator and APC Coordinator to assure ANSB goal is met.


Works with Coding Quality & Education Coordinator regarding education for Coders as result of quality audits.


Responsible for the hiring process for the Coding department. Completes performance evaluations timely and is involved in employee counseling, coaching and termination per policy. Provides orientation for new employees and continuing education for all employees.


Maintains high levels of employee engagement and job performance by providing recognition and opportunities for learning


Appropriately staffs department. Assigns employees and schedules staff utilizing supervisory discretion and independent judgment. Authorizes and assigns overtime to employees when determined to be appropriate. Responsible for the timely completion of biweekly time and attendance and processes bonuses per policy.


Conducts staff meetings with department employees on a routine basis to review progress, discuss problems, and any changes in policy and procedures.


Supervises students participating in the DSC-HIT program.


Coordinates, trains, and schedules auxilians who volunteer in the Coding Department.


Work with the Associate Vice President of Finance on the development of Incentive Plan for Coders.


Attends meetings for CDMP task force, ANSB task force, and FHMMC Leadership.


Is a member of the Revenue Management Committee and Medical Records Committee.


Performs special projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Finance.
