Job Description:
As the Shift Lead for Mission Readiness & Fleet Response, you
are the "on-the-floor" leader responsible for the flawless
execution of daily fleet operations. Reporting to the Team Lead,
you ensure that every vehicle on your shift is technically prepared
for its mission and serve as the critical bridge between the depot
and the road. You are a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced
environment, balancing the structured technical workflows of the
workshop with the dynamic needs of live fleet support. While
centralized Dispatchers manage the initial coordination of field
events, you are the on-site escalation path for your team,
providing the technical and operational guidance needed to resolve
complex vehicle issues and maintain the heartbeat of the fleet's
daily cycle. Shift: 3rd Shift // 10pm - 6:30am // Tuesday -
Saturday In this role, you will: Oversee the day-to-day activities
of contract associates, ensuring all pre-mission tasks—including
software/firmware deployment, sensor cleaning, and safety
checks—are completed on time and to Zoox standards. Serve as the
primary point of contact for the shift to resolve blockers. Provide
immediate guidance when field incidents require on-site technical
decisions or when vehicle preparation hits critical delays.
Supervise and mentor a team of contract associates, ensuring high
productivity, accountability, and adherence to Zoox’s operational
playbooks. Conduct new-hire onboarding and continuous training for
contingent staff, ensuring the team is proficient in using internal
tools and following standard operating procedures (SOPs). Act as
the first level of quality control for all data reporting and
vehicle readiness documentation, ensuring 100% accuracy in our
"Up/Down" fleet status tracking. Act as the first level of quality

Enforce OSHA guidelines and Zoox health and safety policies,
ensuring the workshop is organized and the facility is in a
"mission-ready" state. Assist the Team Lead in tracking KPIs
related to mission start-time delays and vehicle turnaround
efficiency, providing "ground-truth" context for performance gaps.
Manually drive auxiliary vehicles when needed and provide
logistical support for the movement of assets and equipment within
the geosite. Travel Requirements : less than 20% Qualifications 6
years of relevant work experience in an operations-based
environment 2 years of people leadership experience. Experience
leading teams in technical, automotive, warehouse, or high-volume
service environments. Leading Contingent Workforces: Proven
experience supervising contractor or agency staff, including
managing shift schedules and performance. Technical Proficiency:
Ability to quickly master proprietary software tools and
troubleshoot hardware/software interface issues. Problem Solving:
Ability to act as an escalation point, making quick decisions to
keep operations moving when technical or logistical blockers arise.
Communication: Strong verbal and written skills; ability to provide
clear instructions to a team and concise updates to the Team Lead
and Dispatchers. Team player who collaborates well
cross-functionally. Excellent written and verbal skills. Must be
honest, responsible, and an outstanding communicator. Proficiency
in MS Office/Google Suite, especially Excel or Sheets Possessing an
“Extreme Ownership” and growth mindset. Clean Driving Record: A
valid driver’s license with zero points on your record. Physical
Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for the
duration of a shift. Ability to work on-site at your assigned
location for all scheduled shifts Bonus Qualifications Bachelor's
Degree in a relevant field (business management, operations,
finance, etc.) Experience with autonomous vehicles, or a similar
safety-critical industry Experience in a fast-paced and dynamic
service environment. Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other
process optimization methodologies. Familiarity with fleet
management software. $38 - $59 an hour Base Salary Range There are
three major components to compensation for this position: salary,
Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation
Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation
package. The listed range applies only to the base salary.
Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level.
Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a
range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's
relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview
performance. The salary range listed in this posting is
representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this
