CRITICAL NEED ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Lead a team of BIM
modelers performing BIM on mechanical and plumbing systems for
multiple projects. 2. Provides overall direction of BIM activities
in assigned areas including BIM implementation, integration,
development, maintenance, training, design interface, design
quality, and identification of potential liabilities and/or
concerns 3. Directs regional office employees to follow standard
operating procedures and processes. 4. The BIM/ VDC Manager shall
be competent to use company BIM/CAD software products and will work
actively as a BIM/ VDC Coordinator as required to meet company
needs. 5. Includes managing and hiring draftsmen as required to
meet workload requirements and support needs. 6. Facilitate the use
of Corporate BIM/ VDC team as need to help with work load for the
region 7. If outsourcing of drafting services is required, the BIM/
VDC Manager will have responsibility for procurement and management
of those subcontractors. 8. Review CAD/ BIM files daily for
productivity and efficiency 9. Work with CAD superintendent to
identify and resolve construction issues identified through
modeling and coordination. 10. Mentor less experienced coordinators
in industry and standards for BIM/coordination, trade specific
construction knowledge, and BIM software use. 11. Attend turnover,
close-out and coordination meetings as required to support CAD,
Pre-Fab and CAM needs. 12. Attend and or facilitate project
coordination meeting as needed. 13. Work with project managers to
identify and budget coordination/design related costs for RFIs and
change order proposals. 14. Review and approve coordination related
RFIs prior to submission. 15. Work with corporate BIM/ VDC
Department Manager to schedule training for staff in the regional
office 16. Work with general contractors and subcontractors in
developing coordination process, schedule, and meeting structure.
17. Maintain monthly project cost data, project percent complete,
and projected final coordination cost. 18. Populate timesheet
computer database with new project information. 19. Record,
approve, and maintain weekly staff time entry, PTO and other
timesheet related record keeping. 20. Approves staff PTO requests
and maintains department PTO database. 21. Review and approve
department related invoices for the region. 22. Review bill of
material reports from CAD drawings and work with purchasing
department on material orders. 23. Manage spooling process daily,
and prioritizes internal workload based on fabrication and
construction activity requirements. 24. Work with developers and IT
on software updates, upgrades and improvement. 25. Troubleshoot
CAD/BIM software issues and problems, and work with help desk
vendor. 26. Ability to solve any immediate project issues. 27.
Schedule and plan work to meet deadlines. Communicate plans
effectively to team members. 28. Adhere to all Company policies and
procedures with attention paid to items that affect other employees
and departments. 29. Help, support and communicate with all Company
employees. Maintain a positive attitude and "sell" the Company at
every opportunity. 30. Manage the regional process of coordinating
layout drawings using current AutoCAD/Revit MEP/Navisworks software
31. Assist in developing BIM coordination schedules. 32. Maintain a
working knowledge of Industry Standards and current software and
hardware products that are required to meet CAD (Computer Aided
Drafting/Design), Pre-Fabrication and CAM (Computer Aided
Manufacturing) needs for B & I. This may include participation with
trade shows or other professional organizations that support CAD
and CAM in the Construction Industry. 33. Assist to ensure the CAD/
BIM software and systems are efficient; optimize and maintain
appropriate licenses required to meet company needs. 34. Assist to
Develop and maintain yearly departmental budgets to support BIM/
VDC operations.Assist to maintain accurate files of all ongoing
projects and as-built files for all completed projects. Coordinate
the storage of these files with PM Team and in-house IT Manager.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
- 10+ years overall work experience with experience working in
the Commercial Construction Industry.
- Experience scheduling shop drawings, coordinating with all
departments, prioritizing resources, and meeting deadlines.
- Must have hands on technical ability with BIM and CAD programs
(ideally Revit and Bluebeam).
- Must be proficient with software tools including, AutoCAD,
Navisworks, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related 3D detailing
- Must be proficient with building construction, and job
coordination between trades.
- Experience producing as-built drawings as required.
